Coach Profile: Jessica Kelly

Get to know Jess, one of our valued coaches at CrossFit Wrexham.

Why did you decide to become a coach at CrossFit Wrexham?

I've been doing CrossFit for over a decade now, and felt strongly that I wanted to share my experience and knowledge through coaching other members in our community. During maternity leave I wanted to do something for myself, so I completed my CF L1 online in 2024 and intend to continue expand my coaching skills further over time. I love it because it allows me to share the love and passion I have for the sport alongside my story.

What are your goals as a coach?

My goals for 2025 are to develop as a coach alongside the team at CFW. To be personable, relatable and adaptable to those in our community by delivering the quality of coaching they deserve. I always want to share/celebrate the small and big wins of each member, because I love seeing people become the best version of themselves through health and fitness.

What is your favourite CrossFit workout?

Kelly is my favourite Benchmark workout because it represents the time we celebrated mine and Tom's marriage in the gym and completed this workout as a box. It reminds me of happy times and a tiny little bit of pain. Not going to lie haha!

5 Rounds For Time

400 meter Run
30 Box Jumps (24/20 in)
30 Wall Ball Shots (20/14 lb)

What are your training goals for 2025?

I think it's fair to say I am working on my postpartum journey after having our baby boy Max in 2024. I'm learning about my new body and way of life. So for me it’s just important to just turn up to the gym some days and focus on simply completing the workout. Never setting goals too big, and trying not to sweat the small stuff.

What are your favourite things to do outside the gym?

I love spending time with my family - my hubby Tom, our boy Max and our fur baby Ernie. I'm a nurse outside of being a Mum, Wife and Coach, where I enjoy caring for my patients every day. I also spend a lot of time with my girl friends who are my biggest support in life.
